Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") sets out the rules for using DirtLink (the "Service"). It is incorporated by reference into our Terms and Conditions. Violations may result in content removal, account suspension, or permanent ban.

1. General principle

DirtLink exists to facilitate legitimate connections between development site owners and earth-moving professionals in Calgary. Any use that undermines that purpose is prohibited.

2. Listing standards

When you post a listing on the Service, you must:

  • Have authority over the property or material listed (as owner, agent, or with documented permission).
  • Provide accurate site addresses, material types, estimated volumes, and timelines.
  • Disclose known contamination, debris, or hazards in the material.
  • Use photos that depict the actual material or site referenced.
  • Update or remove listings promptly when they become inaccurate or no longer available.

3. Prohibited content

Do not post, transmit, or store on the Service any content that:

  • Misrepresents material type, quantity, condition, or contamination status.
  • Concerns property or material you do not have authority to list.
  • Infringes a third party's copyright, trademark, trade secret, or other intellectual property right.
  • Violates a third party's privacy or publicity rights.
  • Is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, threatening, or discriminatory.
  • Contains malware, viruses, or other harmful code.
  • Solicits or promotes illegal activity.

4. Prohibited behavior

You may not:

  • Use bots, scrapers, crawlers, or other automated means to access the Service without our written permission.
  • Attempt to access another user's account or data without authorization.
  • Bypass, disable, or interfere with security features of the Service.
  • Create multiple accounts to evade reveal limits, suspensions, or other restrictions.
  • Resell, redistribute, or syndicate reveal content or contact information obtained from the Service.
  • Send unsolicited commercial messages to other users using contact information obtained from reveals (this is also a CASL violation).
  • Use the Service to test or develop competing platforms.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the Service.
  • Place excessive load on the Service or otherwise interfere with its operation.
  • Engage in fraudulent payment activity, including chargebacks made in bad faith.

5. Account security

You are responsible for:

  • Choosing a strong, unique password and not sharing it.
  • Notifying us immediately at support@dirtlink.ca if you suspect unauthorized access.
  • Logging out of shared devices.
  • Keeping your contact information current so we can reach you about security matters.

6. Communications between users

When you contact another user through the Service:

  • Only use contact information for the purpose disclosed in the listing (typically arranging a material exchange).
  • Do not pitch unrelated products or services.
  • Respect the user's preferences if they ask to be left alone.

7. Reporting violations

To report a violation of this AUP, email support@dirtlink.ca with:

  • A link to or description of the listing, account, or content in question.
  • A short description of the suspected violation.
  • Your contact information (so we can follow up if needed).

Reports are reviewed within five business days. Reports made in bad faith may themselves be treated as a violation.

8. Enforcement

We may take any of the following actions in response to a violation, depending on severity and history:

  • Warning the user.
  • Removing the offending content.
  • Temporarily suspending the account.
  • Permanently terminating the account.
  • Forfeiting unused subscription credits and reveals.
  • Reporting unlawful conduct to the appropriate authorities.

We exercise discretion in enforcement and are not obligated to issue warnings before suspension or termination.

9. Changes to this Policy

We may update this AUP from time to time. The current version is always available at dirtlink.ca/acceptable-use. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
